spark from bender
by barce
None proven but the ashladle that scoops up our ashes.
giglet sylph,
richly pileous,
needing penance
from cilice for silliness -
what is said of your pertness,
minx,
is not veridical.
post no bills
condigned lest profluent your gaze
through my reconnoitering
yields granite's spark from bender.
we have a fire.
vet what is said;
burn & hold on tender.

What I hate about my life and the Internets
I think it's utter bullshit that I have this Internet illusion of friends, but no real friends to have dinner with or to grab coffee with on a semi-daily basis. I guess I'm just a loner and have to deal. | | Wednesday, March 14th, 2007 | | 11:31 pm |

It's hot!
Here's the forecast for San Jose Monday. A High of 98 degrees. That's a lot less than the 106 high for Sunday. Anyway, all this heat has gotten me thinking about my commute. I used to bicycle commute more often than drive when I worked in Burlingame. Could I do the same thing for San Jose? We'll see. How do you get to work? | | Friday, June 9th, 2006 | | 2:45 pm |

VloggerCon 2006: Part I, The Anticipation
The last con I went to was way back in 2000, and had a few slightly illegal things going on in HOtel PEnnsylvania. I heard about this VloggerCon from Shawn at GoGoGetter. I'm hoping it'll be fun. l8r,Barce Current Mood: excited | | Thursday, May 4th, 2006 | | 1:31 am |

Philip Glass' "Glassworks"
I just heart this piece of 20th Century classical music! I can hear nature, Buddhism, and the sky as it mightily wheels around the north star at night. Current Music: Philip Glass, Glassworks | | Tuesday, November 1st, 2005 | | 5:11 pm |
An extra inch of height
It turns out that I'm a whole inch taller than I actually thought I was. I haven't measured my height since college, which was back in the 20th century. Anyway, when I found out that I was a whole inch taller, I found out that I now became "date-able" for a whole plethora of women with height requirements in their personal ads. I was the same person before I took my measurement, but now all of a sudden I now fit a group of women's "minimum height requirement." What does this mean really? Well, first off, straight couples don't exactly pair off according to conventions of girl-short and boy-tall. So what's interesting about the ads is that although the "fantasy" is having a tall boy, the "reality" is that fame, money, talent, and personality can actually make up for the height deficit. Now does this sort of attraction transfer over for women? Can an overweight woman use fame, money, talent and personality in order to over come unattractiveness in the same way that short guys do? I'd really like to see some studies if you've got them. 2nd, I actually feel taller and act taller. Sure, it's just an inch, but when I think of women who've actually told me, "I wish you were taller," and by the way these women are in the Amazon range of height, now I'm thinking I'm going to enjoy this extra inch, and don't at all want to be any different physically. 3rd, does an inch really matter? It might matter for the heel-conscious out there who absolutely must not only look good in their heels but look good next to their man in heels. So women that came up just an inch below me, can now invest in heels with that extra inch. 4th, heh, I'm getting really cocky now. I've got the gumption to just walk up to an attractive woman in the pasta aisle and go, "Hey, do you know how to cook spaghetti?" Her: Yes. Me: Kickass, you're my new girlfriend. At that point I'd grab her hand. | | Monday, October 17th, 2005 | | 11:33 pm |

negativity
This message below is from Tracy. Certainly someone who is not a fan of me. It's sad that people judge before trying to understand. [ Confessional ] Message 20696 (0 left): Wed Oct 12, 2005 12:00am From: Tracy Subject: I really do feel confessional about this 20 lines (?) I zoom past just about everything Barce posts, with occasional pieces accidently getting up my optic nerve and into my brain. Usually I am sorry, but occasionally I enjoy what I read (as far as I know, only when he is quoting someon else). So why don't I have him on ignore? Because there is so little other traffic in this damn place that if I put him on ignore 90% of what I would read would be about other people being annoyed by barce. I think I need to move into the blog and livejournal world, which is hwere I think most of you went, but I miss what this forum used to mean to me, and I don't really have a replacement. And this confessional isn't really about Barce. Sure, he's pathetic and annoying, but someone always will be. Just before, if you subtracted the scum, there was more left. As it is, the best thing I've read here lately was someone mouthing off about barce, and I didn't have the context about why barce had caused a reaction. Well, I also enjoyed the firefly discussion. | | Sunday, September 11th, 2005 | | 10:37 am |

The Lovemakers Cuddle Up Close at The Blank
I got to see the Lovemakers for the 1st time at the Blank in San Jose last Friday. The chemistry between Lisa Light and Scott Blonde had enough nitroglycerin to blow up San Jose... and that's an understatement. They made out with eachother during one of the songs, and the crowd had a flirtfest with everyone's next door neighbor. Jason Proctor as the Spock-Like guy on synth adds balance to the dynamite of Light and Blonde. My fave song performance of the evening was "Shake that Ass," which has just the most frank lyrics about a polyamorous situation I've ever heard: "I'm addicted to my boyfriend, but baby, I'd rather be addicted to you... I told my boyfriend that I'm leavin' and I won't be home tonight... Gonna rock you 'til the mornin'; gonna make you feel, make you feel Alright!" Between two songs, Lisa Light took out her violin and played. A nice touch! The Lovemakers are all about entertaining you the audience so that they can make lots of cash. You should totally go and see them. Current Mood: chipperCurrent Music: The Lovemakers, "Times of Romance" | | Monday, August 22nd, 2005 | | 5:20 pm |
Tuttle at the SF MoMA The Tuttle exhibit is fun for programmers and math types, because it seems that each piece is mathematical in some way. Two or More III, a photo of which I couldn't find on the Net, is the perfect example. It's made of:
- 1 large piece of bubble wrap
- 2 large horizontal pieces of wood on which the bubble wrap is mounted
- 3 carboard feathers
- 4 pieces of wrapped cardboard
- 5 small red blocks glued together
- 6 copper wires to hold everything together

a question, a parable, a question
Question: What if you could abandon yourself? Parable: For as long as I've loved poetry & philosophy, I've wanted a woman who loved these things, too. She found me, I loved her, and she would not love me back. Question: Does the never-ending longing in an aging vine convince you of what ultimately possesses you?
